It is said that great wines are made in the
vineyard. If one is to believe this philosophy
then it is equally true to say that Mother Nature
is the chief winemaker at Abercorn and the
mortal workers are merely catering to her whims.

Mudgee's climate does vary, like all other wine regions. No two are ever the same nor are the resultant wines.

Abercorn's strong philosophy is that, for most wines, the true test of quality is linked to age.
A bottle of wine opened five, ten and sometimes more years after vintage, must be showing strong maturity indicated by sound fruit and structure on the nose and palate. (Of course, there are exceptions - Sauvignon Blanc is designed as drink-now wine.) Thus, most Abercorn wines, while they may be enjoyed in their youth, are designed to age and become better wines in time.
